Scotland defence coach Steve Tandy has expressed no apprehension regarding the morale of Edinburgh’s players in anticipation of the Autumn Nations Series, despite the capital club’s challenging start to the URC season. Sean Everitt’s squad has recorded four losses in their initial six fixtures, including a significant defeat by the Lions in Johannesburg and a discouraging outcome against an Ospreys team that occupied the bottom position in the league table prior to Saturday’s game in Bridgend. Conversely, Glasgow Warriors are currently in strong form, having secured seven out of a possible ten points from their two-match tour in South Africa, which featured an impressive bonus-point triumph over the Stormers in Stellenbosch. Tandy maintains that Edinburgh’s recent difficulties will not impact their players’ performance when they represent Scotland in the upcoming international matches against Fiji, South Africa, Portugal, and Australia. “I think with the boys, they just get excited to come back into (Scotland) camp,” Tandy said. “It is not so much a fresh start, but everyone’s energised to see and get a group back together, so I don’t have any concern around that.” He further commented, “Obviously the Glasgow boys fly in great coming off the back of the win, it does probably help your recovery a little bit, winning games, but the (Edinburgh) boys, I can’t see any issue with them and they’re just excited to be back and can’t wait for Saturday.”
