A zoological park on the Isle of Wight is appealing to the public for assistance in locating and recovering the final one of four raccoons that recently escaped. This particular raccoon, along with her three sisters who have already been recovered, absconded from Amazon World Zoo Park in Arreton last Friday. The park has issued a request via social media for the loan of large fox traps, intending to deploy them within its premises to facilitate the capture of the remaining animal. Zoo personnel have been employing drones and specialized tracker dogs as part of their efforts to find the animals. Furthermore, local residents are being urged to inspect their sheds and gardens for any sign of the unrecovered raccoon. In a social media post, the zoo expressed its gratitude, stating: “Thanks for the support and kind messages from all across the world. They mean so much.” The third raccoon was located during the early hours of Monday morning, following the capture of two others on Friday and Saturday. A fifth raccoon stayed within its designated enclosure throughout the incident. According to the zoo, the three recovered raccoons have undergone health checks and been returned to their enclosure, where they are presently not on public display. The raccoons had arrived at Amazon World approximately three weeks prior to their escape. The zoo has advised individuals not to approach the animals if sighted, but instead to contact the park directly.
