Youth rescued after falling from ferry into Firth of Clyde

A young person was transported to a medical facility following their rescue from the Firth of Clyde, having fallen from a ferry in the vicinity of Gourock. Authorities, specifically Police Scotland, received notification regarding a male youth who had fallen from a Western Ferries vessel operating between Gourock and Dunoon, with the incident occurring around 09:25. Western Ferries verified that an event transpired aboard one of its ferries, leading to a temporary halt in its services. A police vessel carried out the rescue of the boy, who was subsequently transported to Inverclyde Royal Infirmary. A spokesperson for Police Scotland stated: “About 09:25 on Tuesday, 29 October we were called to a report of concern for a male youth who had gone overboard from a ferry near to Gourock.“Emergency services attended and he was recovered from the water.” Numerous emergency personnel were observed at the location, including representatives from the Coastguard, RNLI, a Police Scotland vessel, and an ambulance. Furthermore, the HM Coastguard search and rescue helicopter provided assistance. Additionally, two Caledonian MacBrayne ships and a yacht were rerouted to the vicinity to lend aid.
