Following her death after being struck by a vehicle that did not stop, tributes have been offered for Safia Karieem, described as the “most awesomest mum.” Ms. Karieem, aged 51, passed away on Sunday subsequent to being hit on Manchester Road in Nelson, Lancashire. A statement released by her family characterized her as “a beacon of light and kindness to those who knew her, and her absence is keenly felt by those whose lives she touched.” Meanwhile, Lancashire Police reported that five individuals apprehended as part of their inquiry have been released on bail. Tahreem, her 26-year-old eldest daughter, shared a personal tribute to her mother, stating: “Your love was boundless; your kindness was unmatched.” She continued: “The way you are taken from us is unbearable, and the pain of losing you is overwhelming.” Concluding, she wrote: “I love you a lot mum.” Her 13-year-old younger sister, Rijja, also commented: “I just want to say that my mum was the most awesomest mum I could ever ask for. “Hearing the news hurt my heart but she is in a better place now and I hope she gets lots of presents in heaven and meets my grandparents.” Det Ch Insp John McNamara noted that Ms. Karieem’s children had offered a “heartbreaking tribute” to their mother. He stated: “First and foremost, my thoughts remain with Safia’s children and her loved ones, at what must be an incredibly difficult time.” He also requested any information or dashcam footage pertaining to the blue VW Golf involved in striking Ms. Karieem on Manchester Road or as it proceeded towards the Pennine Crescent area. The arrests included two men, both 19, a 20-year-old woman, and a 17-year-old boy, all on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. Additionally, a 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
