A woman, initially believing her injuries resulted from a fall, has stated her intention to progress with her life after medical professionals informed her she had been attacked. Kay Crisp, a resident of Mendlesham, Suffolk, was discovered on Monday 18 November on a footpath situated between Old Station Road and Glebe Way. Ms. Crisp reported that, despite sustaining considerable injuries, she was “not frightened to go out at all” and expressed hope that she could “move forward”. Suffolk Police confirmed an investigation into the incident is underway and stated they were “keen to speak to a man who was jogging in the area at the time”. One month following the incident, Ms. Crisp recalled observing a male jogger on the footpath ahead of her, who subsequently vanished from her view. She recounted, “I just went through, on to the footpath and bang, nothing, I can’t remember anything.” Ms. Crisp, described as being in her 60s, stated she was unaware if the jogger was connected to her injuries, noting that he has not been located. She indicated that while her injuries had partially healed visually, lasting damage remained. She detailed her injuries, saying, “My cheek has been pushed right in to my face.” She added, “My face one side is different to the other, all the muscles have gone, I’ve got a scar above my eye.” Ms. Crisp noted that although some of her physical injuries were beginning to heal, addressing the mental scars might require more time. She expressed, “I still can’t accept what has happened, I think now it’s hit me more because I was in such a state.” She further elaborated, “Psychologically it’s not getting any easier, it’s accepting that this has happened to you and I can’t get my head round it because I wasn’t awake, you can’t believe it’s actually happened to you.” Ms. Crisp affirmed that despite the incident, she did not feel “vulnerable” and maintained that her “life goes on”. Nevertheless, she holds the belief that the situation could have been more severe. She quoted others, stating, “A lot of people said, ‘you’re lucky to be here’.” For updates on Suffolk news, information is available on BBC Sounds, Facebook, Instagram, and X. Copyright 2024 BBC.
