A female motorist has passed away following a collision between the vehicle she was operating and a van, occurring close to the boundary separating South and West Yorkshire. According to South Yorkshire Police, the incident took place on Friday around 11:00 BST at the Haigh roundabout, situated near Junction 38 of the M1 motorway. A spokesperson for the police force stated that the woman, who was in her 50s, was transported to a medical facility but succumbed to her injuries at a subsequent time. The driver of the van, a 29-year-old male, was apprehended on suspicion of operating a vehicle while unfit and causing a fatality through dangerous driving; he has since been granted bail, the spokesperson further noted. The police spokesperson confirmed that the deceased woman’s relatives have been notified and are receiving assistance from law enforcement personnel.
