A 40-year-old woman, identified as Victoria Cairns from Glasgow, has died in hospital four days after being involved in a collision with a truck in South Lanarkshire. She was admitted to Glasgow’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital following the incident but succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday. The incident took place on Saturday evening on Farmeloan Road in Rutherglen, South Lanarkshire, when she was struck by a Mitsubishi pick-up truck. The 33-year-old male driver of the truck has been arrested and charged in connection with alleged road traffic offences. Sgt Andrew Coutts, representing Police Scotland, stated: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman at this difficult time.” Police have requested that anyone who may have witnessed the collision or possesses dash-cam footage of the event come forward.
