A 41-year-old woman and an eight-year-old boy were seriously injured after being struck by a car in Leeds. According to police, the incident occurred at approximately 07:55 GMT on Friday, when the woman and child were hit by a red Renault Kadjar on the outbound carriageway of the A64 York Road, near Walford Avenue. Both individuals were taken to hospital for treatment of their injuries. A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police confirmed that a 71-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and drink-driving. The A64 was closed eastbound, from Quarry House to its junction with Torre Road, while emergency services attended the scene. The road was reopened around 09:30 GMT. Authorities appealed for anyone who witnessed the event or possessed relevant footage to contact the police.
