A Remembrance Sunday parade is scheduled for 10 November in Wolverhampton, where hundreds are anticipated to march through the city center. This event aims to honor individuals who sacrificed their lives in conflict and will be led by the West Midlands Fire Service’s pipe band. The procession will commence from the steps adjacent to Wulfruna Street, involving numerous Army veterans, active service members, and various military groups. The City of Wolverhampton Council has extended an invitation to the public to gather along the parade path. Its route will encompass Princes Square, Lichfield Street, and Exchange Street, concluding at St Peter’s Square. Following the assembly, an outdoor Service of Remembrance will be attended by civic dignitaries. A two-minute period of silence is scheduled for 11:00 GMT, preceding the placement of wreaths at the city’s cenotaph. Subsequently, a remembrance service will be held within St Peter’s Church. Councillor Linda Leach, the Mayor of Wolverhampton, expressed her wish for a substantial turnout of individuals to observe and engage in this year’s commemoration. Road closures will be implemented in the city center during the parade morning. Specifically, Wulfruna Street will be inaccessible from 8:30 to 11:00. The remaining sections of the parade route will be closed to all vehicles from 10:30 to 10:50, facilitating safe passage for marchers. Ms. Leach conveyed that she would proudly wear her poppy. She stated: “At a time when our world often feels unstable and frightening, people value our armed forces more than ever. Wolverhampton has a proud tradition of coming together on this sacred day to honour the fallen and I know that once again people will come out in their thousands to line the parade route and observe the service.” For further updates, individuals can follow BBC Wolverhampton & Black Country on BBC Sounds, Facebook, X, and Instagram.
