Veterans, active military personnel, reservists, cadets, and various other organizations are scheduled to participate in a parade through Wolverhampton as part of the city’s Remembrance Sunday commemorations. The procession is slated to commence from Wulfruna Street at 10:30 GMT, with members of the public invited to line the route to observe. The West Midlands Fire Service pipe band will lead the parade, which will proceed through Princes Square, Lichfield Street, Exchange Street, and conclude at St Peter’s Square. Upon gathering in the square, an outdoor Service of Remembrance will be conducted, open for public attendance and observed by local dignitaries. A two-minute silence is set to occur at 11:00, preceding the laying of wreaths at the city’s cenotaph. This will be followed by a remembrance service held inside St Peter’s Church. Linda Leach, the Mayor of Wolverhampton, expressed her hope that as many individuals as possible would attend to participate and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice. She stated, “At a time when our world often feels unstable and frightening, people value our armed forces more than ever.” Mayor Leach further remarked, “Remembrance Sunday is a way for us all to show our appreciation for those who have laid down their lives fighting for our freedom and to remember their valour and service.” She concluded by noting, “Wolverhampton has a proud tradition of coming together on this sacred day to honour the fallen.” To facilitate the parade, several city centre road closures will be implemented. Wulfruna Street will be closed from 08:30 until 11:00. The remaining sections of the parade route will be inaccessible to traffic starting at 10:30 and are anticipated to reopen around 10:50.
