A housing provider in Wolverhampton is conducting a week-long series of events aimed at increasing awareness regarding responses to anti-social behaviour. Wolverhampton Homes, responsible for managing the majority of the city’s council properties, has scheduled various activities for the week, such as patrols, meetings, a question-and-answer session, and an outreach walkabout for rough sleepers. These events, detailed on the provider’s website, form part of a nationwide initiative known as ASB Awareness Week, organized by the charity Resolve, which commenced on Monday. The City of Wolverhampton Council, West Midlands Police, and local schools are also participating in this campaign. The council has strongly advised residents experiencing anti-social behaviour to report incidents to the anti-social behaviour team, the housing provider, or the police, rather than enduring it silently. Councillor Obaida Ahmed, the cabinet member for digital and community, stated: “We know that anti-social behaviour can cause a great deal of distress. That’s why we’re committed to working with the public and other organisations across Wolverhampton to investigate and resolve issues as soon as possible.” Chief Inspector Nathan Murray commented: “West Midlands Police take reports of anti-social behaviour very seriously and are committed to tackling it swiftly, firmly and fairly.” He further added: “I’d encourage residents to get involved and learn more.” For additional content, BBC Wolverhampton & Black Country is available on BBC Sounds, Facebook, X, and Instagram.
