Monika and Arek Kornak, who operate the Bits n Pizzas takeaway in Williton, Somerset, a business they acquired during the pandemic, have initiated a program to provide free hot meals to vulnerable residents. Each week, the couple, in collaboration with nearby establishments, offers a home-cooked takeaway meal without requiring any questions. Mrs. Kornak stated, “We figured out it would be lovely to give back to the community that welcomed us with open arms when we started taking over the business.” According to Mrs. Kornak, the initiative has already received contributions of food and utensils from neighboring businesses. She added, “We’ve come across nothing but willingness to help… there’s more and more people that are getting involved.” She elaborated, “We moved here during the pandemic and it can be quite isolating… embedding ourselves into the community was so easy and everybody was really open.” Mrs. Kornak further explained the process: “We don’t ask any questions, you just take any portions you need and off you go.” Sam Harrod, a volunteer assisting at the takeaway, commented, “I’m a very charitable person and you never know when you’re going to be struggling… it’s just nice to give back and be able to help people and say ‘I’ve helped people in a worse situation than I am’.” Mr. Kornak expressed his readiness to cook any type of meal to support the effort, contingent on the nature of the donations received. He remarked, “If we’re going to get more people together, more places together, more donations together, I don’t mind cooking different things like curries, stews – something warm and nice for people.” Post navigation Norwich Charity Reports Record Demand for Christmas Support Hampers Hereford’s Beefy Boys Burger Achieves Fourth Place in International Competition
