A whale perished subsequent to becoming beached on a section of the Lincolnshire coast. Cleethorpes Wildlife Rescue (CWR) was alerted on Wednesday to the stranding of a pilot whale in the vicinity of Stallingborough and Immingham. Following the deployment of volunteers to the site, British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) was requested for additional assistance; however, the whale unfortunately succumbed. BDMLR expressed that it was “glad the whale didn’t suffer for long in such awful conditions”. CWR reported that upon their arrival, the whale was still alive, but hazardous sinking mud prevented volunteers from safely reaching the animal. BDMLR subsequently received the animal’s location, video footage, and respiratory counts in advance of its medics’ arrival. CWR stated that, notwithstanding the dedicated efforts of all participants, the whale did not endure the stranding. CWR issued a statement saying: “Although this is a sad end, we would like to thank our volunteers for their help and assistance, Cleethorpes Coastguard, Humberside Fire and Rescue, as well as BDMLR for their prompt response.” BDMLR commented on CWR’s social media post, asserting: “The information your team provided was invaluable and the vehicle parked strategically to help locate the spot was fantastic, too.” The comment continued: “Very sad though inevitable outcome, and glad that the whale didn’t suffer for long in such awful conditions.” It concluded: “Keep up the fantastic work as always, and hopefully no further whales follow.” Post navigation Concerns Raised Over Fly-Tipping Following New Recycling Centre Rules Brighton Couple’s Cat Survives Fox Attack, Sparks Discussion on Urban Wildlife
