The West Yorkshire Police force has announced that two of its officers have been charged with multiple driving-related offences. PC Abdul Iqbal, stationed in Kirklees, faces accusations of drink-driving, perverting the course of justice, and failing to provide driver details. PC Aisha Iqbal, assigned to the Wakefield district, has been charged with conspiracy to pervert the course of justice. Both officers have been suspended from their duties. The allegations against PC Abdul Iqbal, aged 29, stem from an incident that occurred in Calder Grove, Wakefield, during May. He is scheduled to appear at Leeds Magistrates’ Court on 15 November. According to the force, the charge against PC Aisha Iqbal, aged 27, relates to two speeding offences and the provision of driver information. Her court appearance is also set for 15 November, at Bradford Magistrates’ Court. She is named as a co-defendant alongside Zaffar Iqbal, a 62-year-old member of the public, who also faces a charge of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
