A blockage in a West Sussex sewer, which had been emitting a “horrible” smell in the local town, has been cleared, Southern Water announced. The pipe, situated at the Albion Street wastewater pumping station, had been the source of a persistent stench in the town of Southwick for the past few months. Southern Water stated that it cleared the obstruction on Friday and that its teams would continue to monitor the location. A spokesperson for Southern Water indicated that the blockage was caused by items that had been flushed and subsequently became caught in the pipes. The spokesperson added: “We faced major challenges including an entire scaffolding plank which had to be broken up in place, articles of clothing and large amounts of unflushables, fat, oil and grease, wet wipes and other debris.” Post navigation Public Information Sessions Held for Regional Sewage Treatment Proposals Industrial Site in North Lanarkshire Reports Second Chemical Leak in Two Weeks
