Disruption to rail services occurred in sections of the West Midlands following an incident where a lorry collided with a bridge and subsequently overturned. According to operators, the vehicle impacted the bridge in Erdington, situated between Birmingham New Street and Lichfield Trent Valley, around 12:25 GMT. This incident resulted in the closure of rail lines and impacted Cross-City services. National Rail reported that routes connecting Bromsgrove and Lichfield Trent Valley, as well as Redditch and Four Oaks, experienced disruption until approximately 15:00 GMT. The West Midlands Ambulance Service stated that the driver received an assessment at the site of the incident and did not need additional medical attention. A spokesperson further commented, “We were called to reports of a lorry that had crashed into a bridge and overturned near to the junction of South Road and Summer Road.” National Rail also confirmed that substitute transportation was provided between Sutton Coldfield and Lichfield, with existing rail tickets honored by National Express and London Northwestern Railway.
