The West Indies’ domestic one-day tournament concluded without a declared winner following a double forfeit, as neither captain appeared for the toss at the final, which was scheduled at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba, Trinidad and Tobago. Barbados Pride and Jamaica Scorpions were slated to compete in the Super50 Cup final on Sunday in Tarouba, Trinidad and Tobago. Adverse weather conditions initially shortened the planned 50-over game to a 20-over match; however, the final was ultimately abandoned when neither team took the field for the postponed start. Cricket West Indies (CWI) announced that no winner would be declared and indicated plans to review tournament regulations to prevent similar occurrences in the future. A statement elaborated that scattered showers, which commenced approximately an hour prior to the scheduled 1pm start, had initially caused a delay in the final. The statement further detailed the sequence of events: “However, around 5.45pm, the officiating team determined that the game could proceed at the latest possible start time of 6.17pm. They informed the players of this and that the toss would be conducted at 6pm. Despite assurances from the umpires and match referee that the conditions were safe for play, both captains failed to be present for the toss, allowing time to elapse past the latest starting point. As a result, both teams failed to take the field, effectively refusing to play. This resulted in a double forfeit, with no champion being declared.” CWI clarified that while tournament regulations stipulated that both teams would be declared co-winners if no play were possible in the final, no winner was announced because match referee Reon King had determined that play could proceed. Barbados and Jamaica had advanced to the final of the eight-team, month-long tournament by securing positions in the top four of the league stage and subsequently winning their respective semi-final matches on 20 November. In the semi-finals, Barbados defeated Trinidad and Tobago Red Force by 153 runs, and Jamaica overcame Leeward Islands Hurricanes by 107 runs.
