West Ham manager Rehanne Skinner addressed the media in advance of Saturday’s Women’s Super League fixture against Brighton, scheduled for a 12:30 GMT kick-off. The following are the key points from her press conference: Li Mengwen, a defender on loan to West Ham from Brighton, is ineligible to participate against her parent club this weekend and will therefore not be included in West Ham’s squad. Skinner stated that the team’s victory over Leicester on Sunday has “elevated everybody,” and she expressed being “really pleased” with their performance when in possession of the ball. She further elaborated: “It’s competitive [in the squad]. It makes people work really hard and we can push our levels. That showed with the confidence on the ball we had.” Skinner indicated that the “aim” is to leverage that recent victory as a catalyst to ascend in the league standings, believing it can “give us a boost.” She also commented: “We want to try to get on a bit of a roll and keep that momentum going.” Skinner remarked that Brighton performed “a great job with their recruitment” during the summer, noting her belief that their new players have rapidly integrated into the team. Skinner concluded by saying: “They are moving the ball really well and creating problems for people. I think the game will be difficult but that’s not new to us.”
