The McDonald’s branch located on Emscote Road in Warwick has received approval to operate around the clock. The management of the fast-food establishment had sought permission to remove existing restrictions that limited its operating hours to between 06:00 and 23:00. Members of Warwick District Council’s planning committee granted the application, though this approval is valid for an initial duration of 12 months. During the Wednesday meeting, it was noted that the original planning permission for the branch included the aforementioned restriction. Councillor Becky Davidson expressed apprehension regarding the potential for increased anti-social behaviour. She also stated she was “confused” by the absence of any police objection to the proposal. Councillor Claire Wightman acknowledged the concerns raised but indicated her support for providing the restaurant with an initial 12-month approval period. Despite the unanimous backing from the committee for the proposal, the implementation of 24-hour operations will necessitate a separate licence from Warwick District Council.
