Village Road Closure Expected Until Next Week Due to Burst Water Pipe

Anglian Water has indicated that a “complicated” burst water pipe problem might keep a frequently used village road closed until the following week. Since Wednesday, personnel have been present at the location on Broadway, Yaxley, situated near Peterborough, working to locate and repair the leak. Local residents reported that the urgent road closure was “impacting them” and creating “inconvenience” for accessing and exiting their homes. Ben Luke, a resident of Broadway, stated that a nearby car wash was compelled to cease operations after experiencing flooding as a result of the incident. He further noted, “They have been digging the road to fix the leak-it’s only pedestrian access now.” Luke continued, stating, “It is causing a lot of inconvenience as it is going to be shut for a few days. We are having trouble accessing our homes – It has impacted the local businesses in the area severely. “The car wash has had to close due to flooding form the incident. The closure of the road is right outside the car wash and the vets so you can imagine.” He concluded by saying, “But the workmen are great and working through the night to sort it.” Anglian Water, the utility company conducting the repairs, described the task as complicated and mentioned that adverse weather conditions might further hinder progress, with the road’s reopening anticipated for the following week. An Anglian Water representative commented: “Our teams are currently repairing a burst water main in Yaxley. “Although this isn’t affecting any customers’ water supply, we have had to close Broadway, which we appreciate will cause some inconvenience. “We’d like to thank our customers for bearing with us while we get things back to normal.” A complete diversion route has been established utilizing the A605, A1129, A15, and London Road.
