Residents residing in a riverside area of Hull have welcomed an “impressive” new fountain. This water feature, funded with £25,000 from Hull City Council ward councillors and the leader’s fund, has been installed in Victoria Dock’s half tide basin. The council stated that it not only sprays water up to 40ft (12m) into the air but also enhances water quality for local wildlife and residents. Councillor Diana Hatcher, who represents the Drypool Ward, expressed her pleasure at seeing the fountain operational after a prolonged campaign. She added: “Already residents have been delighted to see the new fountain working well.” The council indicated that water quality in the area had been a concern for residents over many years. A spokesperson also commented: “We hope that residents enjoy the impressive display.”
