Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service reported that two individuals were extricated after being pinned under a vehicle that collided with a temporary structure at Torbay Hospital. The service confirmed its dispatch to the scene occurred at 10:47 GMT on Wednesday. According to Devon and Cornwall Police, three occupants of the vehicle sustained injuries, and an unspecified number of individuals within the building were also hurt. The police force stated: “The incident is ongoing but the hospital remains open.” The fire service indicated that the driver, described as being in his 60s, had already been extricated from the vehicle prior to the arrival of emergency crews, but two other individuals remained trapped beneath the car. Fire crews from Torquay and Paignton responded to the location and lifted the vehicle. The service added: “Both casualties are now clear and being assessed by the ambulance service.” Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust announced the closure of car park A as a result of the event, further noting that the route to the acute medical unit (AMU) was also inaccessible. The trust advised: “This incident will impact on public access to our on-site parking at the hospital, therefore we ask that patients consider using public transport where possible to attend appointments.” It also stated: “We will directly contact patients if their appointments will be impacted by this incident.” Post navigation Patient’s Brain Tumour Shrinks by Half Following Novel Radioactive Treatment Trial Queen Camilla to Miss Remembrance Events Due to Chest Infection
