Van’s Windscreen Struck by Thrown Object, Driver and Passenger “Narrowly Escaped” Injury

An object was reportedly thrown at a moving van, causing its driver and passenger to “narrowly escape” injury. Law enforcement officials indicated that the windscreen of a grey Peugeot Boxer van sustained damage from an item launched “possibly from the bridge overhead”. Cleveland Police reported that the incident took place on the A19’s southbound carriageway, close to Billingham Bottoms, Teesside, around 10:00 GMT. The police force confirmed that officers conducted a search of the vicinity for a suspect, and an investigation into the matter is currently in progress. Despite the impact, the van’s window did not completely shatter, enabling the driver to proceed to a secure location to stop and subsequently notify the police.
