Following the outcome of the 2024 US presidential election, a Donald Trump impressionist reported a continuous influx of phone calls. Mike Osman, a comedian based in Southampton, had been on the verge of discontinuing his act, which involves a blonde wig and fake tan. However, the announcement of the Republican’s impending return to the White House has motivated him to continue performing. Having commenced his performance in 2016, he now identifies himself as the leading Trump impersonator in the UK. Mr. Osman has dedicated years to refining his act, titled “Donald Trumped,” which has garnered over 16 million views on TikTok. The comedian, despite possessing a southern English accent, appears to replicate Trump’s voice effortlessly. He stated, “The first thing you’ve got to do is get the wig – and you’ve got to get it right.” The impressionist utilizes a custom-made hairpiece, crafted by wig designers, which a hairdresser routinely re-styles. The subsequent step involves perfecting the costume, specifically Trump’s suit and his distinctive crimson tie. He quipped, “The tie is about eight foot long,” further mentioning that his neighbor, a seamstress, had custom-made it for him. Nevertheless, he asserted that the most crucial aspect of impersonating Donald Trump involves mimicking his eyes and mouth. He further remarked, “I have watched a lot of videos of Donald, believe me.” Mr. Osman reported a significant demand for his performance on the morning following the presidential election in November. He commented, “I’m non-political, I have no axe to grind doing Donald Trump, the American people have decided.” He added, “I’m the UK’s number one Donald Trump impersonator – interestingly, I’m in the top five in the world, according to a survey.” Mr. Osman spent his formative years on a council estate situated in Millbrook, a Southampton suburb. He stated, “Nothing wrong with that.” He continued, “But if you’d have said to me when I was growing up in Millbrook that I would be the top five in the world at anything, you know, I’d have taken that.” President-elect Donald Trump is scheduled to assume office in January.
