Boh, a ferret discovered abandoned in Waltham, North East Lincolnshire, in March, has been rehomed approximately 2,000 miles from its original location, having been adopted by an individual in Finland. Known also as Stink Boy, Boh was taken in by Cleethorpes Wildlife Rescue and temporarily cared for by one of their volunteers prior to his adoption. Jaakko Rajaniemi traveled from Finland to the United Kingdom on 12 November to collect his new companion. Due to limited space at the rescue centre, volunteer Tia Chan provided short-term foster care for Boh. Ms. Chan characterized Boh as “very smelly” and “quite bitey” initially, attributing this behavior to stress. She stated, “When I had him, he wanted to play with me. But, because they are so mouthy when they play, he just wanted to bite me all the time.” Ms. Chan sought a permanent home for Boh by posting in an online ferret community. She also made a lighthearted suggestion to her friend in Finland about adopting him. Unexpectedly, her friend, Mr. Rajaniemi, consented to the adoption and flew to the UK to retrieve his new pet. According to Ms. Chan, Mr. Rajaniemi’s eagerness to adopt Boh stemmed from the scarcity of ferrets as pets in Finland. During his flight to Finland, Boh remained calm in his hammock, arriving safely in his new country, approximately 2,000 miles (3,200km) from his discovery site.
