Law enforcement officials apprehended two teenagers suspected of possessing a firearm. Nottinghamshire Police stated that personnel responded to a report of an individual reportedly carrying a weapon in Central Avenue, Hucknall, just after 17:45 GMT on Friday. The police force confirmed that ground teams and a fixed-wing aircraft from the National Police Air Service (NPAS) conducted searches. Approximately at 18:30, a 19-year-old man and a 17-year-old male were apprehended in the Bestwood vicinity. Their arrests were made on suspicion of possessing a firearm with the intent to incite fear of violence, operating a vehicle without insurance, and driving in violation of licensing regulations. Furthermore, the 17-year-old was taken into custody for suspected possession of cannabis with intent to distribute. Police officials confirmed that both individuals have been released pending further investigation as inquiries proceed. Chief Inspector David Mather commented: “Following searches no firearm was found and I want to reassure the public that we do not believe there to be any wider threat to the community.” He urged anyone possessing details regarding the incident to contact authorities.
