West Midlands Police reported that it was addressing calls concerning “groups of people launching fireworks at each other and neighbouring buildings.” The police force confirmed that a dispersal order was enacted in sections of central Birmingham after two individuals sustained injuries during the unrest. A police statement affirmed, “We will be taking action against anyone involved in public order offences or any other criminality that is reported to us.” Emergency services, including ambulance crews and firefighters, were also dispatched to the location, known for its popularity among students. West Midlands Ambulance Service indicated it received two calls to the scene in rapid succession, deploying paramedics at 03:10 and 03:55. A statement from the service noted, “A woman was treated for minor injuries before being given self-care advice and discharged at the scene.” The ambulance service’s statement further detailed, “We then received a second call to the same location and again sent an ambulance to the scene.
