Two men have been found guilty of the murder of an individual whose body was discovered in a stream with a cut throat and two stab wounds. The victim, 21-year-old Owen Fairclough, was located near Risley Lane in Breaston, Derbyshire, on June 23, 2023. David Oswald, 31, of Granville Square in Birmingham, and another man, identified as Man A due to legal restrictions on naming, were convicted of murder and possession of an offensive weapon at Derby Crown Court on Tuesday. The jury has not yet delivered a verdict concerning a third man, referred to as Man B, who also cannot be named for legal reasons. Man B denies the murder of Mr. Fairclough. During the trial, Jack Towell, 22, from Castle Boulevard in Nottingham, pleaded guilty to murder and possession of an offensive weapon. Earlier in the proceedings, the jury heard testimony that Mr. Fairclough arrived in Breaston on June 21, 2023, where he was met by Towell. Towell then reportedly lured him to a “secluded spot” where Oswald and Man A were “lying in wait.” His body, bearing fatal injuries, was discovered in a stream by a group of teenagers two days later. Oswald, Towell, and Man A are all scheduled to be sentenced once the trial concludes.
