Two individuals are receiving hospital treatment for serious injuries after a car and a van were involved in a collision on the A57 near Rotherham. The incident, which occurred at 2:46 GMT on Friday, involved a silver Kia Rio and a white Ford Transit. The vehicles collided on the westbound carriageway near Aston, in the direction away from the M1. The driver of the Kia, a 55-year-old woman, and her 61-year-old male passenger both sustained injuries in the crash. South Yorkshire Police has appealed for witnesses, asking anyone who may have seen the incident between the A618 Mansfield Road and the B6053 Chesterfield Road junctions to get in touch. The road was temporarily closed following the collision but has since been reopened to traffic.
