A man and a woman have died following a collision where the car they were travelling in struck a tree within a cemetery. West Yorkshire Police stated that officers were dispatched just before 05:00 GMT to Birks Fold, a road that runs through Scholemoor Cemetery in Bradford, after members of the public alerted authorities. Two individuals were discovered inside a silver hatchback car on the segment of the road extending past Lidget Green Primary School into the graveyard. A force spokesperson indicated that the Major Collision Enquiry Team has commenced an investigation, and officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage to make contact. A cordon was established across the cemetery’s entrances as investigations continued. The damaged vehicle was removed by a recovery truck shortly before midday on Thursday. The cemetery was temporarily closed due to the incident, resulting in the cancellation of scheduled services.
