A house fire in Coventry resulted in the discovery of two deceased individuals. According to the West Midlands Fire Service, the blaze, which occurred in the early hours, originated in a first-floor maisonette flat on The Coppice, Stoke Aldermoor, and spread throughout the entire residence. West Midlands Police stated its efforts were focused on identifying the two individuals discovered within the property. This discovery was made after fire crews spent 75 minutes extinguishing the blaze completely. The fire service reported that firefighters, equipped with breathing apparatus, “entered the property but very sadly, the bodies of two people were found inside.” The ambulance service confirmed that neither patient could be resuscitated. Police and fire personnel are collaborating to determine the origin of the fire. Twenty firefighters responded to the incident, having been dispatched around 04:40 GMT. Investigation officers and a specialized fire investigation dog were also present at the location. Adele Wilkinson, a BBC CWR reporter present at the site, observed that the street appeared largely normal, except for the police cordon that had shut down the road. She noted, “There’s a few police cars, police patrolling around the streets.” Previously, a spokesperson for the West Midlands Ambulance Service stated: “Sadly, it quickly became apparent nothing could be done to save either of the patients and they were confirmed dead at the scene.” The service deployed one ambulance, a paramedic officer, and its hazardous area response team to the location. Authorities are requesting that anyone possessing relevant information contact the police. For further updates, follow BBC Coventry & Warwickshire on BBC Sounds, Facebook, X, and Instagram.
