Two Arrested Following Discovery of Man’s Body in York Home

The discovery of a man’s body at a residence in York has led to the arrest of two individuals on suspicion of murder. Police found the deceased after being called to a property on Whitethorn Close, Huntington, on Monday. The call followed a report from a member of the public expressing concern for a man in his 70s who had not been seen for several days. North Yorkshire Police confirmed that a 32-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman, both without a fixed address, were taken into custody on suspicion of murder. The force stated its belief that the two arrested individuals had known the man for a brief period before his body was discovered. Detective Superintendent Fran Naughton commented: “We realise this will have been a shock to the local community and I would like to thank them for their patience, understanding and support while we remain at the scene.” Naughton added: “Extensive enquiries are continuing and a cordon is in place. We expect to remain at the property during the coming days while we examine the scene of the incident. Thank you again to the local community for their cooperation.”
