Two men have been taken into custody after police, acting on a tip-off, located the remains of a cannabis cultivation site being burned in a back garden. Nottinghamshire Police reported that response officers immediately detected a strong smell of cannabis upon opening the front door of a residence on Noel Street, Kimberley, Nottinghamshire, on Monday morning. Inside the property, cropped cannabis plants and growing equipment were found, the force confirmed, with suspicions that the electricity supply had been illegally bypassed. The two men, aged 25 and 31, were arrested on suspicion of cannabis production. Sgt Rich Tiernan stated: “As we’ve said before, the production of cannabis is in no way a victimless crime, with these grows often having links to wider criminality and resulting in vulnerable people being exploited.” He added: “Tackling and preventing drug harm is a matter of priority for the force and we will continue to act on information to disrupt those who set up professional and sophisticated cannabis grows within our communities.”
