Twin sisters have described their upcoming performance as the opening act for Jools Holland as the “highlight of their career” to date. Hannah and Grace, known professionally as Twayn, acquired the skills to produce their own music during the Covid-19 lockdown period and commenced its release last year. The 19-year-old duo, based in Newcastle, is scheduled to perform the opening set at Jools Holland’s concert at Newcastle City Hall this Thursday. Grace expressed her excitement, stating: “We can’t wait. [It’s] such a ‘pinch me’ moment. Definitely the biggest highlight of our career so far, I think.” Jools Holland will be performing alongside his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra. The twin sisters mentioned having attended his Christmas show on multiple occasions and subsequently initiated contact with the musician’s team to inquire about supporting him. They indicated that they had nearly abandoned hope of a response when they unexpectedly received an email “out of the blue” inquiring about their availability, to which they responded “within about 10 minutes jumping at the chance”. Hannah commented that performing before an audience of 2,000 people would be “a bit nerve-wracking” and represent “quite a big step up”. The duo intends to perform their track, Christmas Market, during the concert. This song features an accompanying animated music video, which was produced by students at the University of Sunderland. Second-year animation students Ella MacDougall and Jenni Romeril were responsible for creating the video, which places the song within a North East backdrop.
