Grant funding originating from a train operator has assisted in financing “critical” projects, a charity has stated. The Cornwall Community Foundation reported receiving £40,000 from Cross Country’s Customer and Communities Improvement Fund, intended for charity projects across the county. The foundation, which offers support and investment to Cornish initiatives, declared its commitment to match the grant, bringing the total sum to £80,000. Cross Country has since launched a new application round for grant funding. The foundation indicated that the grant funding had been distributed among nine charities and groups in Cornwall: Blind At Sea, Nature Connects Community Interest Company (CIC), Whole Again Communities CIC, Cornwall One Parent Support Charitable Incorporated Organisation, Shallal Dance Theatre, Carefree Fostering Independence Cornwall, Cruse Bereavement Care, Get Together Cornwall CIC and MCH Wheal Prosper CIC. Tamara Sherston-Baker, the foundation’s development director, remarked: “It’s been fantastic to work with Cross Country to help even more projects and initiatives with their critical community work across Cornwall.” Cross Country advised that groups interested in securing funding have until 6 December to submit their applications.
