Will Jenkins-Davies has registered three goals in his last two appearances for Torquay United. Torquay United manager Paul Wotton has indicated his desire to prolong Will Jenkins-Davies’ loan period following the midfielder’s pivotal performance in the team’s 4-1 victory against Enfield Town. The 20-year-old, on loan from Plymouth Argyle until January, netted two goals in the match, a win that maintained the Gulls’ third position in National League South. “I thought he was the best player on the pitch by a million miles,” Wotton informed BBC Radio Devon. “Anyone who says different I’m not sure what game they were watching. Even in the first 20 minutes where we were off it, I felt that Will was the one who was trying to carry the fight to Enfield, trying to make it happen, trying to win his headers and his tackles. He’s just an infectious lad, he’s a great lad and hopefully we can keep him for longer than we’ve got him.” Enfield initially took the lead after two minutes through a penalty converted by Sam Youngs. However, Jordan Thomas brought Torquay level on the half-hour mark. Jenkins-Davies then put Torquay ahead three minutes later, before Jordan Young added a third goal shortly after the commencement of the second half. Jenkins-Davies, who scored eight goals in 36 appearances for the Gulls during a loan spell last season, secured the win with his second goal of the game, scored 10 minutes before full-time. Wotton further commented on the team’s start, adding, “It was as bad a start as you could wish to have, it was a really poor penalty to concede and you’re 1-0 down, basically you may as well have come out of changing room 1-0 down. I thought we looked a bit lethargic and a bit leggy and a bit off it, and the first goal sparked us into life really. From that moment I thought we were in total control of the game and it ended up being a good day for us.” Post navigation Everton’s Unbeaten Streak Ends in 1-0 Defeat to Southampton Chris Kamara calls return to football punditry “surreal”
