Actor Timothée Chalamet astonished fans by making an unexpected appearance at a lookalike competition held in his honor. The “Wonka” star unexpectedly arrived at the New York City event, drawing loud cheers from attendees. During his brief visit to Washington Square Park, Chalamet was observed taking photographs with individuals resembling him, noted for their curly hair. City authorities dispersed the heavily attended gathering, which drew hundreds, describing it as “unscheduled.” Variety reported that Chalamet navigated through the crowd discreetly, concealed by a mask and a baseball hat. He then approached two lookalikes who were posing for pictures, which led to screams echoing throughout the park. YouTuber Anthony Po organized the competition, which offered a $50 (£39) prize to the victor and garnered thousands of RSVPs through an online invitation. Lauren Klas, an admirer of the actor known for “Call Me by Your Name” and “Dune,” articulated the qualities that define a convincing Chalamet resemblance. He informed the AP news agency, “It’s all in the nose.” He added, “All of his bone structure, really.” Participants in the contest were also questioned regarding their proficiency in French, their aspirations for global improvement, and their romantic interests concerning Kylie Jenner, with whom the actor is reportedly in a relationship, as reported by AP. Miles Mitchell, a 21-year-old from Staten Island, ultimately won the contest, appearing in a Willy Wonka costume. He subsequently distributed candy to the onlookers from a briefcase. Several individuals present at the event indicated that law enforcement had closed it down. The New York Police Department issued a statement to the BBC, confirming its response to “an unscheduled demonstration at Washington Square Park” on Sunday. The department further stated that individuals were apprehended and subsequently released with a summons. Earlier in the current month, a new trailer for “A Complete Unknown” was unveiled, featuring the actor portraying Bob Dylan. This biographical film is set in the 1960s and chronicles Dylan’s ascent to musical prominence. The movie is scheduled for release in December in the United States and in January in the United Kingdom. Copyright 2024 BBC. All rights reserved.
