Golfer Tiger Woods has expressed his “disappointment” regarding his inability to participate in the upcoming Hero World Challenge, scheduled for next month in Albany, the Bahamas. His most recent competition was at The Open in July, where he did not make the cut. The 15-time major champion, who also hosts this unofficial tournament, which brings together 20 of the globe’s leading players, was broadly anticipated to secure an exemption entry for the event commencing on 5 December. The 48-year-old American did not provide a specific reason for his non-participation. However, he has maintained a restricted competitive calendar for several years due to a history of multiple injuries. His last competitive appearance was in July at The Open, where he missed the halfway cut, preceding his back surgery in September. On X, Woods communicated, “I am disappointed that I will not be able to compete this year, but always look forward to being tournament host.” Last year, Woods participated in the tournament after an eight-month absence due to injury, securing an 18th-place finish. He also announced that the three exemption positions for this year’s event will be occupied by Americans Justin Thomas and Nick Dunlap, alongside Australian Jason Day.
