A lifeboat crew successfully rescued two fishermen and a dog who had become stranded on a Cornish beach, with assistance from a coastguard helicopter. The individuals were cut off by the tide near Lushington beach in Porthtowan on Sunday. An eyewitness reported that one of the men fell onto rocks and dislocated a shoulder. The helicopter, based in Newquay and conducting training in the vicinity, located the men at approximately 16:30 GMT and subsequently alerted its colleagues. Tom Bolt, from Falmouth Coastguard, stated that RNLI lifeguards from Porthtowan utilized an inshore boat to retrieve the men. A paramedic from the helicopter then examined them while they awaited the arrival of an ambulance. Mr. Bolt urged the public to exercise caution when visiting the coast, especially given that beach lifeguard patrols had concluded for the year. He commented, “Cornwall’s got some amazing coastlines. However, please just check the tides beforehand.” HM Coastguard confirmed that its rescue teams from Cornwall, St Agnes, and Portreath also responded to the incident.
