A woman sustained life-threatening injuries and two other individuals, including an 11-year-old boy, were seriously hurt following a five-vehicle collision on the A14. Emergency services were summoned to the eastbound carriageway near Rowley Mile Services at Newmarket on Friday night. Cambridgeshire Police stated that the incident initially involved a single vehicle, a grey Nissan Silvia, with subsequent collisions occurring moments later. A 40-year-old woman from Mundford, Norfolk, who was driving a grey Ford EcoSport, is in a critical condition, and a boy passenger also suffered injuries. Police have appealed for witnesses. The crash took place between junctions 36 and 37 at approximately 23:40 GMT on Friday, leading to the road’s closure for nearly 11 hours. A grey Volvo and a blue Peugeot were also involved. The driver of the Volvo, a 45-year-old man from Wymondham, Norfolk, sustained serious injuries. The drivers of the Nissan and Peugeot were unhurt. A fifth unidentified vehicle departed the scene before officers arrived. Det Sgt Craig Wheeler said: “This was a nasty collision which has left three people seriously injured.” He added: “I would like to hear from anyone who was driving on the eastbound or westbound carriageways who may have dashcam footage any of the collisions taking place, or any vehicles which drove through the scene at any stage.” He further appealed: “I would also like to appeal to the occupants of the vehicle that left the scene to get in touch, as you may have vital information which would greatly assist our investigation.” Post navigation Family’s Tribute to ‘Gentle Giant’ After Death Following Assault Man Charged with Murder Appears in Court Following Fatal E-Bike Collision
