Three individuals have appeared before a court in connection with a man sustaining serious injuries after his vehicle was allegedly forced off the road. Prosecutors state that the car collided with a tree in Uppermayne, Basildon, Essex, on October 10, 2022, before a second vehicle was reportedly driven into it after the initial crash. Hollie Dance, aged 49, residing at Alton Gardens, Southend-on-Sea, faces charges of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent (GBH), dangerous driving, and possessing a weapon designed for discharging noxious liquid, gas, electrical incapacitation, or similar substances. Neither she nor the two co-defendants entered a plea at Southend Crown Court, and they have been granted bail. Ms Dance is the mother of 12-year-old Archie Battersbee, whose life support system was disconnected following a legal dispute in 2022. It is alleged that she operated a BMW vehicle in a dangerous manner on Uppermayne, Kenilworth Gardens, and the A127. The individual identified as the alleged victim received hospital treatment. Thomas Summers, aged 25, also of Alton Gardens, faces charges including inflicting GBH with intent, criminal damage, intentionally encouraging or assisting the commission of an either-way offence, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, and possession of Class B drugs. Rhys Bentley, aged 23, from Norwich Avenue in Southend, stands accused of inflicting GBH with intent. The defendants are scheduled to attend a further preliminary hearing in January, with a trial tentatively set for September 29.
