Thai Woman Receives Death Sentence in Initial Cyanide Murder Case

A Thai woman has received a death sentence, marking the initial ruling in a series of legal proceedings where she faces accusations of fatally poisoning 14 acquaintances with cyanide. A Bangkok court determined Sararat Rangsiwuthaporn, aged 36, was culpable for administering poison to a prosperous friend’s food and beverages during a journey undertaken last year. The friend’s family members rejected the notion of a natural death, and a post-mortem examination subsequently detected cyanide residue in her system. Law enforcement apprehended Sararat, subsequently revealing additional fatalities with comparable circumstances dating back to 2015. An individual she reportedly targeted managed to survive. According to police, Sararat, whom Thai media has referred to as Am Cyanide, possessed a gambling addiction and focused on friends to whom she was indebted, subsequently taking their jewelry and other valuable possessions. Vitoon Rangsiwuthaporn, the former husband, surrendered to authorities last year. Police indicated that he most probably assisted Sararat in poisoning a former boyfriend, Suthisak Poonkwan.
