A ten-year-old girl has succumbed to fatal injuries after being bitten by a family dog at her residence in North Yorkshire, according to police. Law enforcement personnel were dispatched to the occurrence at the home, located in the Malton area, after being alerted by Yorkshire Ambulance Service around 16:15 GMT on Friday. Police stated that, notwithstanding the interventions of medical professionals and a civilian who assisted the family, the girl sustained severe injuries and was pronounced deceased at the location. Subsequent to the attack, authorities reported that a family member secured the dog inside a vehicle, and officers confiscated the animal upon their arrival. North Yorkshire Police confirmed that the animal was transported to secure kennels, where it currently remains. The police force indicated that the dog is undergoing assessment as part of the ongoing inquiry. A spokesperson for Yorkshire Ambulance Service confirmed that “a range of ambulance resources” were deployed in response to the emergency call received on Friday. Police further stated: “Our thoughts remain with the girl’s family and friends at this very distressing time. Officers are supporting the family while inquiries continue.“We also urge people not to speculate about the incident, respect the family’s privacy and allow them to grieve in peace.“We will provide more information when we are able to.”
