A Devon council, aiming to achieve financial savings, has launched a survey regarding public toilets to assess their value, usage, and the public’s willingness to pay for them. Teignbridge District Council initiated the online survey following a vote by councillors to consult with local residents. The consultation, which will last six weeks, seeks public input on the perceived worth of the area’s 34 public toilet facilities. The authority indicated a necessity to save “a significant amount of money” to maintain funding for essential statutory services. It stated that the survey responses, which can be submitted until December 23, will provide “vital information” to better comprehend residents’ perspectives. The council emphasized that no decisions have yet been made concerning potential closures. Toilet locations featured in the survey include Ashburton Kingsbridge Lane, Dawlish Warren, Moretonhampstead Court Street, and Newton Abbot Bakers Park.
