Two teenagers have been taken into custody following an incident in West Yorkshire where a car reversed into a police officer. West Yorkshire Police reported that the black Mercedes A180 was brought to a halt by officers on Vegal Crescent in Ovenden, near Halifax, just before 12:00 GMT on 7 November. The officer sustained minor injuries after being hit by the vehicle as he approached it. The car subsequently departed the scene before being abandoned. Police stated that a 19-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy were arrested at a later time and have since been released on bail. Officers initially observed the car traveling on Ovenden Way in the direction of Lee Mount. It was later discovered abandoned on Moorside Gardens at approximately 12:15 GMT. Det Ch Insp Claire Smith commented: “This was clearly a dangerous incident where an officer, doing their job, ended up injured and taken to hospital.” She urged anyone possessing footage of the Mercedes, either prior to or after the event, to contact the police.
