A teenager sustained stab wounds on a street in an incident described as a “targeted attack”. Merseyside Police reported that the 15-year-old boy was assaulted, suffering an arm injury, on Mersey Bank Road in the New Ferry area of Wirral at approximately 12:25 GMT on Saturday. The force also stated that two men, dressed completely in black and wearing balaclavas, were seen leaving the vicinity of the injured teenager on electric bikes. Detective Inspector Paula Jones confirmed that police had increased patrols in the area with the aim to “reassure communities” during their investigation into the stabbing. Enhanced stop-and-search powers were enacted around New Ferry subsequent to the attack, but these powers concluded at 04:00 GMT on Sunday. A police spokesman stated that the boy was stabbed twice in the arm but remains in a stable condition. The force has appealed to anyone with information about the incident to contact them. Det Insp Jones stated, “If you want to help us prevent our young people from falling victim to knife crime, give us information and we will do the rest.” She added, “Knife crime has absolutely no place on the streets of Wirral or anywhere in Merseyside.” Listeners can access the best of BBC Radio Merseyside on Sounds and follow BBC Merseyside on Facebook, X, and Instagram.
