Three taxi marshals have been suspended from their roles following an alleged incident where a passenger felt compelled to provide a tip. Darlington Borough Council received a report indicating that an individual was reportedly prevented from entering a taxi without first tipping a marshal during the past weekend. The council confirmed that G&A Security, the company contracted by the council and the marshals’ employer, had withdrawn them from duty while the firm conducts an investigation. G&A Security has been contacted for a response. Jim Garner, a council official, stated that patrons should “never be made to pay or tip, or feel compelled to do so.” The council explained that the deployment of taxi marshals on Grange Road is part of a broader strategy designed to “ensure people have a fun and safe night out in Darlington.” It further elaborated, “They are employed to help people feel safe while they are waiting for a taxi and to reduce incidents of anti-social behaviour.” Post navigation Panel uncovers evidence of private nursing homes secretly housing mothers and infants Conflicting Accounts Raise Questions in Kyran Durnin Murder Investigation
