A £1.6 million initiative to upgrade a road in Staffordshire has concluded, encompassing repairs to footpaths, crossings, drains, and kerbs. As part of this undertaking, Coton Lane in Tamworth underwent complete resurfacing, extending from its intersection with the A513 Comberford Road to the southern intersection of Fontenaye Road, according to the county council. Construction commenced in September and was finalized by the close of the previous week. Councillor Rob Pritchard characterized the development as “fantastic news” for local residents, further noting that the enhancements would result in more dependable travel for motorists. This reconstruction is integrated into a broader £50 million investment dedicated to the county’s road network over a three-year period commencing in 2024. This larger initiative also encompasses future work in Tamworth on Aldergate, Upper Gungate, Lichfield Street, and Lichfield Road during the upcoming months.
