Following their Sunday victory against Burton Albion, Tamworth fans are extending their celebrations. The non-league team secured a 4-3 win in a penalty shootout after the match concluded 1-1 following extra time. Brett Walton, who operates the Tamworth FC Social Podcast, characterized the game as an “incredible” match. He stated, “It still puts hairs on my neck, it’s just unbelievable,” adding, “I still can’t quite take in what we’ve done really.” Mr. Walton recounted that his belief in his team’s victory grew once the game proceeded to penalties, specifically commending goalkeeper Jas Singh. The draw for the subsequent round is scheduled for later on Monday. Mr. Walton expressed his desire for a “big club” from the Premier League. He remarked, “We really want it away from home as well. Personally, myself, I’d love Arsenal,” clarifying, “I’m not an Arsenal fan, but I just think a nice big stadium, big crowd, [will] really get us some money in.” He noted that supporters were “absolutely buzzing” after the outcome and observed that the match had attracted many fans he had not encountered in a considerable period. “Yesterday, at the game, there was so many people there. You look around at the pub we were all in before and it’s just like a who’s who of Tamworth,” he commented. He continued, “People I’ve not seen for years, people from all over just turned up yesterday.” He concluded, “I love things like that because there’s no better way of uniting people than that, and it’s brilliant.” Furthermore, Mr. Walton expressed his hope that the victory would inspire a future generation of football enthusiasts in Tamworth to back their local team.
