A supporters’ organization for Swindon Town has announced intentions to conduct a series of “peaceful” protests, vowing to “not rest” until owner Clem Morfuni agrees to sell the club. This marks a renewed expression of fan dissatisfaction towards Morfuni, following a separate group’s declaration in May that it had “lost confidence and trust” in the leadership. Swindon Town is currently tied on points with the two teams at the bottom of League Two. The Robins, who are level on points with the bottom two clubs in League Two, are now one month into the tenure of new manager Ian Holloway, who took over after former boss Mark Kennedy was dismissed just five months into his role. In an online post, the group known as thespiritof69 stated, “Clem Morfuni has consistently proven over the last three years that he is not capable of running our football club.” The group further declared, “We will not rest until he publicly invites interests of acquisition from those who may be.” They added, “Today we are committing to a programme of online and offline action to create noise and pressure on the ownership and are working hard behind the scenes ahead of our first day of action against Grimsby on December 21st.” The organization emphasized that their planned protests will be “peaceful, non obstructive and outside the 90 minutes” of the match. Swindon currently occupies the 22nd position in League Two, having secured only two league victories this season, alongside seven draws and eight losses. The BBC has reached out to the club for comment. In related news, Jamie Russell, Swindon’s head of football, has departed from the club with immediate effect. Russell joined Swindon in 2021, initially overseeing the club’s academy before his appointment as head of football in July 2021. A statement from Morfuni acknowledged Russell’s “pivotal” role in fostering the growth of the club’s academy, noting that 18 players have made their first-team debuts since his arrival. Morfuni commented, “Since transitioning to become our head of football, Jamie has continued to show determination and passion for our club, in all teams and we are grateful for his contributions.” Post navigation Rangers Secure 1-0 Victory Over St Johnstone: Match Review Michael Brown: Injuries ‘Cost’ Manchester City Amidst Losing Streak
